Shepherd's Bakery

Freshly baked bread delivered to your door - so fresh it will probably be still warm when it gets to you!

"Shepherd's Bakery started in Chieveley in 1898 offering a door-to-door delivery service. Since then many things have changed but Shepherd's has remained a constant in the village, although now a much bigger business than it was then. So it is with pride that Shepherd's returns to its roots 110 years later by once again delivering bread door-to-door. This is the only way you can buy our bread in Chieveley and I hope we can be of good service to you."

Food miles & carbon footprint

We buy all our flour from Wessex Mill at Wantage, just 11 miles away. They pride themselves on the purchase of local wheat, most of which is grown at farms within the South Oxfordshire region. Currently we are using flour from wheat grown at the following farms:

  • Cottehill Farm, Haddenham
  • Hill Farm, Stokenchurch
  • Lobbers Down Farm, Thame
  • Ash Farm, West Hagbourne
