Annual Litter Pick

The Chieveley annual litter picking weekend has just taken place. A group of adult volunteers tackled the roadside verges to and from the village and collected a vast amount of rubbish. And the local Beavers, Cubs and Scouts turned out  and did a tremendous job of collecting rubbish from all round the village.

You can see from the photo that the rubbish included a very depressing number of bottles thrown from cars. The volunteers all do a great job. A total of over 30 bags of rubbish were collected over this weekend, including a television. It’s a depressing total but it’s wonderful that so many volunteers – both adults and children - are willing to turn out to help tackle the problem. And it’s great news that the next generation – the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts - are involved in this community initiative for the environment.
